January 2025 @ Hylé

Starting now, we’ll post monthly highlights on our blog. January 2025 was a blast, with a bunch of news product-wise and for the company as a whole! Let’s dive in!

January 2025 @ Hylé

Tech improvements

We made some tech improvements. Here is the TL: DR; if you want more detailed release notes, you can check them in our docs or receive them in real-time in our Telegram group.

✨ New features

  • You can now start a node with an indexer and PostgreSQL database by simply running cargo run – --pg.
  • We added an endpoint for contract registration.
  • We integrated the SP1 prover into the client SDK. Another step toward proving stack flexibility!
  • We added support for native verifiers for SHA3-256 and BLST signatures, eliminating the need for ZK proofs!
  • You can now settle transactions with proof of failure before timeout occurs.

We also rewrote our Quickstart guide for developers.

Events

We announced Real World Cryptography #3 on February 18th in Paris, co-organized with Symbolic Software as usual and hosted by Ledger. Join us!

We’re also participating in ODBoost #1, the new hackathon by the OnlyDust team. Our issues revolve around verifying identities natively using several types of identity sources. If you missed your chance this month, make sure to join our Telegram group to learn when our next participation will be and what tickets it will involve!

Did you follow Sylve’s conversation with Playmint’s David Amor last month and wish you could hear more? Good news: part 2 of the interview is now live − and as always, if you prefer the written format, you’ll find the highlights in the dedicated blog post!

[Podcast #4] David on Playmint and onchain games, Part 2
On the Hylé podcast, we talk about cool applications that leverage cryptography in general and zero-knowledge technology in particular, with a new guest for every episode. David is the co-founder and CEO at Playmint, a team that builds decentralized games and recently introduced the concept of playerchains to make onchain

We also built an AMM demo called Hyleoof. While waiting for a nicer front end (we’re hiring a designer and a front-end engineer, by the way!), we wrote a blog post explaining why and how we did it.

Finally, we rewrote the entire Quickstart section of our documentation: if you want to start building on Hylé, check it out. We’re excited to see what you’ll make!

Quickstart - Hylé Developer Hub

Ecosystem

Our grantee Rute released her Proof of Residency project: a library and app to upload Portuguese-signed utility bills and generate ZK proof that you live in Portugal, based on PDF parsing and leveraging SP1. Of course, it’s settled on Hylé!

Partners

We’re proud to be partners with NexusVM, Fermah, and ZEROBASE! Integrating with their services allows us to bring ZK to more developers hassle-free, and that’s our shared mission.

Team

We are currently hiring for several roles: check them out on our Careers page!
